Avengers and Peppa Pig Cake

Hello friends!

Today I had two orders. One Avengers Cake and One Peppa Pig Cake.

The Avengers Cake, I made all the figurines with help from fellow cake decorators.

The cake was very very heavy, It consisted of 25cm White Mud, 20cm White Mud and 15cm Caramel, with white ganache.

The Peppa Pig Cake, the design is from an earlier Peppa Pig cake back 2 years ago for my daughter. This time it was ordered for twins!

I'm tired, but looking forward to my orders in the next few weeks - Barbie Mermaid and Litlte Miss Sunshine.

Watch this Space! Until next time.

Transformers Bumblebee Camaro Cake!

Hello! My first blog in a while..

I found this cake really really difficult. I had done a Lightning McQueen car cake before and I thought, being a car cake it would be similar! Boy was I wrong!

The shape was hard to get! I think with Lightning McQueen it was easy to make it look close to the character because there was so many features that made it lightning! However, with 'real' car cakes like this.. it's all about getting the shape right!

It was really hard! I struggled trying to get it right and still in the end, I'm not overly satisfied with the result!

I think the cake turned out more cute than anything!

Oh well.. now I know for next time! I think that's the beauty of cake decorating, we keep on learning from every cake we do!

To leave you, here is a picture of Buddy from Cake's Boss 'Bumblebee Camaro Cake' .. simply unbelievable!!!!

Every cake decorator hopes to be as good as him some day! =)

Update on me..

Just finished this red gift box cake for a friend's mum.. It's a carrot cake from the Planet Cake book and cream cheese filling from little kitchen recipe.
I have a busy week ahead with baby shower and two birthdays.
I went in the cake shop on Monday and I saw an Astro boy figurine for $35!!!
Didn't realise that they charge so much for those figurines.. maybe I should be charging more? LOL
Maybe in the next few months.. when I'm happy with my work for now.. my prices will do.

After the wedding..

Hello!

So, since my last entry I managed to decorate my first ever 'Wedding Cake' for my two dear friends.

The wedding was a success and I had such a good time.. maybe a little too good... =)

From there I received a few more orders for birthday cakes for a little mermaid cake and super hero cakes and cupcakes both for the same weekend in August..so I'll be very busy.
Apart from that will be making a Christening cake for a friend in mid October

I've managed to create some invoice and quote templates for the business and have recently applied for a trademark, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Today the iPhone4 comes out in Australia hoping to purchase it!

Ciao for now!

WEBSITE UP

The website is finally up! Thanks so much to my brother for taking the time to do it! He is talented.

Things I'm working on at the moment are a friend's wedding cake. I'm freaking out as its my first wedding cake, but I've bought all the materials and ingredients and I've made the design simple but elegant.. I'm hoping it'll be easy enough for me to pull off!

I'm hoping!

I've been approached with a few more orders so that's exciting..

I've also applied for trademark for my zelicious and logo, so I should be hearing news soon whether it got approved.

Signing off now, I'm spending a weekend away with the girls. Should be relaxing and fun.

Till next time.

First attempt at a wedding cake!!!

This is my very first attempt at a wedding cake. This is all dummy cake. Things I need to work on is my quilting, I have to learn how to make them meet in line.. and my roses need some more practicing.. I haven't done roses since I first learnt them last year. So I had to google 'how to make sugar roses' to refresh my memory. Cake Journal has a very good tutorial in case any of you want to learn.

I've been asked to do a few wedding cakes, but I've turned them down. It's flattering to know people think my cakes and skills are good enough for their weddings.. But personally I think I need to work on my skills a bit more before I put 'Wedding Cakes' on the products list.
Anyhow, I have till July 22nd to toughen up my skills for my first Wedding Cake! Wish me luck guys! I'm going to need it.
